...from Basie to Birdland
Scat singing is a musical feat that many shoot for but very few truly achieve. Singing Scat is using the voice as a musical axe and finding expressions that are uniquely your own. Those who achieve this are the masters of the craft.
This site is the habitat for one such musical bird, Dr. Scat, a mid-south artist who has been using his voice as an improvising jazz instrument around the world for over thirty years.
Because Scat singing is not something you learn. It's something inside you.

Ohhhhhh, so much more than I imagined. I especially loved the “primal yop riffs” with the bowl at the beginning part. We have a set of those among our backwoods community here and there is nothing like adding them to massage and meditation. Layered harmonic sound enters, lifts and reorganizes body and spirit. All of it is wonderful and your very credible roots in jazz come through solid, but l also love that I hear the Hebrew tradition, kirtan, Bach and so much else weaving through. YUM! Sharon
